FFCP - We are a Certified Fear Free Practice. Our trainers use only positive reinforcement training methods and equipment. We also work closely with veterinarians and groomers to help your pet have a fear free experience.
CCPDT is one of the only independent certification organizations. (That means others are self given Certifications) CPDT-KA indicates that a dog trainer has passed a comprehensive exam and has at least 300 hours of dog training experience.
Association of Professional Dog Trainers - (APDT) purpose is to advance excellence in the profession of dog training and behavior consulting. They also recognize and give access to the public recognized certifications. The certification rules are as follows:
The certifying organization must be independent with no ties to schools or academies.
The certification must require a test or procedure to measure experience, skill level and knowledge.
The certification must pertain specifically to the field (dog training and behavior).
The certification must require continuing education in the form of continuing education units (CEUs).
AKC - American Kennel Club - Responsible Owners, Well-Mannered Dogs. The AKC's Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. In CGC, dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test can earn a certificate and/or the official AKC CGC title. Dogs with the CGC title have the suffix, "CGC" after their names
Peaceable Paws Affiliates are trainers who have successfully completed one or more of our trainer academies with honors, and who have demonstrated their commitment to professional education for themselves, and quality service for their
clients.
By aligning themselves with us as Affiliates, these trainers have ongoing access to Peaceable Paws resources, including educational materials and consultation time with world-renowned trainer/behavior consultant Pat Miller, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA.
International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants - Jennifer is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant. IAABC's mission is to standardize and support the practice of companion animal behavior consulting, while providing resources for pet owners needing advice.
Members have diverse practices and methodologies, and believe in the study and science of behavior consulting. They also work to minimize the use of aversive stimuli and maximize the effective use of reinforcers as science has proven to be far more effective long term than other methods.

C.L.A.S.S., or Canine Life and Social Skills, is an educational program to promote training focused on the use of positive reinforcement and to strengthen relationships between humans and their canine companions. This is a three-level evaluation for dog owners to demonstrate the real-life skills of their dogs, as well as a knowledge assessment of the owners’ understanding of basic dog handling and care.
The Pet Professional Guild is a membership organization representing pet industry professionals who are committed to results based, science based force-free training and pet care. This is the antidote to dog training and behavior based on myths and fiction. We are a proud professional member of this organization using methods derived directly from years of excellent peer reviewed animal behavior studies and leaders in dog training, veterinary, and animal behavior.
CATCH provides a comprehensive curriculum includes 10 phases that cover everything from puppy development and obedience training to behavior solutions and successful career building. Its program is approved by CCPDT and APDT. Jennifer is a certified CATCH mentor trainer, getting the next generation of dog trainers ready.
Based in behavioral science, Dr. Sophia Yin’s Low Stress Handling techniques are used worldwide by professionals concerned with the well-being of animals and the safety of the people who care for them. These techniques allow pets to be examined by vets, groomers, and other pet professionals without stress.
Family Dog Training is dedicated to dog bite prevention and excellence in family dog training. Jennifer is a certified Dog Safe Presenter a dog bite prevention program has been presented in more than 30 countries. Ask us to present the fun and educational program in your school, health department, vet clinic, shelter, group, or neighborhood association.
Jennifer was an Operational K9 Handler with The Virginia Search and Rescue Dog Association. VSRDA is the Southeast's oldest air-scenting wilderness search dog team. VSRDA is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at no charge to the requesting agency. As a member of the team she deployed with her Belgian Malinois throughout the state at the request of Virginia Department of Emergency Management or local law authorities to search for missing persons.
